Jimmy Carter Is For The Port Sellout? That’s All I Need To Know
February 21st, 2006
Via Drudge this morning.
The Miami Herald is reporting that Jimmy Carter has chimed in on the Dubai Port Debacle.
‘The overall threat to the United States and security, I don’t think it exists,'’ Carter said on CNN’s The Situation Room. “I’m sure the president’s done a good job with his subordinates to make sure this is not a threat.'’
Well… that’s all I needed to hear.
If Jimmy “The Worst President In History” Carter thinks it’s a good idea - you can bet the Whitehouse is scrambling to reverse it’s position as we speak.
Somewhere along the line Jimmy Carter not only got the idea that he is relevant, but that he ever was.
The single most apt description of the man I’ve ever read was in The Wall Street Journal - Gabriel Schoenfeld - Senior Editor of Commentary - was reviewing Carter’s book “Living Faith” and had this to say about the former president :
The case against Mr. Carter’s presidency makes itself. In four short years things went from bad to worse to terrible. Inflation doubled; short-term interest rates hit a high of 21%. The soaring misery index was the least, however, of what went wrong. From Lancegate to Billygate to the disreputable behavior of Mr. Carter’s bumpkin advisers, the tone of the presidency fell to depths unplumbed since the Harding administration.
As is readily apparent from “Living Faith,” to this day he doesn’t know how much he doesn’t know.
Emphasis added by me.
Mr. Schoenfeld reflects on JC’s life since the presidency :
… it has consisted of a sustained public-relations campaign to repair his tattered reputation. One component has entailed the public performance of charitable works–reporters and TV cameras in tow–building homes for the poor and the oppressed, in the American barrios and also in communist Nicaragua, with Sandinista leaders by his side.
How… trite.
Still…
with the right so
I can’t help but wonder if this port sell-out won’t be the tipping point that makes Republican’s and Conservatives take a closer look at the whole of the Sovereignty Sell-Out.
Update :
ROTFL… Michelle Malkin is calling Jimmy Carter’s involvement The Kiss Of Death. Too funny - and dead on the money.

Unbelievable!

So, let’s just be clear. After 9/11, Bush said “No one could have known they were going to fly planes into buildings.” After Katina, Bush said “No one knew the levees were going to break.” Now, this.
So that Bush can’t say “No one knew…” here goes: MR. PRESIDENT, I KNOW THAT THESE ARABS ARE GOING TO ATTACK OUR PORTS. Now, everyone on this blog knows, so no one here can ever say “no one knew…”
Let’s see how long it takes. It’s just a matter of time.
