Bush Makes My Point On The Dubai Ports
February 21st, 2006
As predicted the blogosphere has stroked out over the Bush Dubai Port Sellout.
And now… as you can read on the Junkyard Blog and Michelle Malkin - they’re getting ready to have an infarction because he’s not backing up. In fact… he’s flatly defiant.
He’s even threated to use his veto power for the first time in his administration.
But.. as cynical as it is to point out - he’s right.
You didn’t care when they sold those important ports to other foreign countries.
Why do you care now? Because they’re Arabs?
Bush is just making the obvious point about our Sovereignty : Does it really matter who owns it - after we’ve already sold it away?
You don’t care that foreign countries of all stripes own most things of value in this country already.
Why are you making such a fuss now?
Bush is just driving that point home.
Here is my prediction:
My Conservative brethren only think they’re going so scotch this Dubai Port deal. In the end - they’re going to eat it - and shut up about it. We’ve gone too far in this country to do anything else. We’ve sold our jobs and our services and our industry and our economy and our sovereignty to every other country in the world - friendly or not - democratic or not - human rights or not - and we’re going to sell these ports too or be held apostate before the twin gods of Free Trade and the Global Economy. Arabs or not.
Like it… or lump it - Bush is just letting you know how it is.
